Ribblehead & Twisleton Scar Photography Workshop

The Three Peaks area provides some of the most dramatic scenery in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Rugged limestone, valleys and fells and a famous viaduct are some of the highlights of this two centre workshop at Twisleton Scar and Ribblehead. After an initial briefing and refreshments, our tour begins just North of Ingleton with a stroll through rugged limestone country followed by a short steep climb up onto Twisleton Scar. Here we find a wealth of photographic subjects including limestone pavement, windswept trees, a lone tree, a dramatic standing stone and spectacular views into the valley below and over towards the flat topped peak of Ingleborough. In the afternoon we move locations up to Ribblehead and explore the surrounding area including the spectacular Ribblehead Viaduct. From here we can see all of the Yorkshire Three Peaks including Whernside, Pen-Y-Ghent in the far distance and a fine view of Ingleborough which provides our sunset shoot opportunity. Approximate walking time – 2 hours, Approx 3 Miles in total. Please note that this is a two centre workshop with two short walks, not a circular walk like our other one day workshops. Difficulty – Medium – there is one steep climb up onto Twisleton Scar.

Post Processing

For a photographer, typically only around 20 per cent of your time is spent taking the actual pictures and the rest is devoted to post processing at a computer screen. It is a vastly important part of great photography and knowing a few tricks can transform your well-composed and exposed images into visually stunning works of fine art. As a supplement to your day’s workshop, we welcome you to join us the following day for an afternoon discussion and presentation of how to boost your images using Lightroom and Photoshop. The session is held in the centre of Harrogate and we invite you to bring along your favourite images from the workshop for helpful feedback by Sam and Mark. There is a small additional charge of £30 for this session. There is also the opportunity to upload your images to a dedicated group on the image-sharing site Flickr, which is only accessible to workshop participants. This will enable you to continue discussing your work with your fellow students, so even after the workshop is over, there is continued support to help develop your photography further.

Workshop Only – £115 per person Workshop and Processing – £145 per person Maximum – 6 persons
